Frank J. Vari, B.Sci.Acc., JD, MTax, CPA
Our Founder, Frank J. Vari, B.Sci.Acc., JD, MTax, CPA, is a progressive tax, finance, and legal professional with over 25 years of experience working with businesses ranging from technology start-ups, the world’s largest private equity investors, to multinational Fortune 100 corporations. His accomplishments in taxation and finance are providing unique and innovative solutions to complex international tax and business issues.
Frank began his career in international and corporate tax with Ernst & Young taking on increasing roles and practice leadership responsibilities with Deloitte and KPMG in the Midwest and Dallas, Texas offices. While in the Big Four, Frank was a leader of global tax teams designing and implementing complex tax planning strategies for both U.S. based and international clients. Frank coordinated the worldwide tax, accounting, finance, and cash flow aspects of these transactions as well as the coordination of client finance, legal, and audit teams. He also represented taxpayers on complex tax controversy, both tax audits and tax litigation, involving both U.S. and international governmental tax authorities.
Frank joined the NYSE traded global polymer technology company PolyOne where, as Vice President of Tax, he was responsible for the global corporate tax and risk management functions in over 55 countries. Frank was an integral part of the finance team that led PolyOne from near bankruptcy in early 2009 with a $1.32 share price to a global market leader with a $40 share price. In addition to helping lead this successful turnaround, Frank designed and implemented tax savings programs that resulted in over $150 million of tax savings as well as leading over $1 billion in merger and acquisition transactions of both private and publicly traded companies from due diligence to integration. At this same time, Frank reduced PolyOne’s effective tax rate from the high forty percent range to the low teens.
In addition to his career in Big Four and private industry, Frank has also been an Adjunct Professor of Taxation to collegiate law and business students on international tax and corporate mergers and acquisitions. He has also a frequent speaker and author on complex international tax topics and issues.
Frank is a licensed CPA in Massachusetts and Ohio and a licensed attorney in Ohio. His education includes a Bachelor of Science. in Accounting, a Masters of Taxation, and a Juris Doctorate degrees.
